At our restaurant, you’ll experience food prepared according to Old World traditions straight from the heart of Italy – the birthplace of our founder, Angelo Elia.
Born in Salerno, Italy, Angelo was first taught to cook by his mother in their home kitchen. Both of his parents (his father was a local butcher) instilled in him the importance of using only locally gathered meats and fish, growing garden-fresh herbs, and baking breads from scratch.
As he grew older, Angelo developed a desire to take his traditions across the sea to the U.S. At age 14, Angelo arrived in New York City where he worked his way through some of the city’s most prestigious kitchens, including the Four Seasons and the family operated, La Cisterna.
His passion for “the old country” inspired him to create a menu of traditional Tuscan dishes, using only the finest ingredients and making everything from scratch. The menu, both rustic and refined, immediately made waves with locals, visitors and the media, with the restaurant quickly becoming a local staple for those seeking the ultimate in Italian fine dining.
Today, Angelo’s impressive roster of dining establishments includes three Casa D’Angelo restaurants (Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton and Paradise Island/Bahamas with another opening soon in Aventura), a growing chain of popular small plate Italian eateries – Angelo Elia Pizza, Bar, Tapas (Fort Lauderdale, Weston, Delray Beach and Coral Springs) as well as an authentic Italian café, The Bakery Bar in Fort Lauderdale.
